Apart from Rynek Bałucki it was the second major and the most characteristic place pertaining to the Ghetto of Łodź. Close to it, a bridge
was thrown across Zgierska Street that was excluded from the Ghetto boundaries. A parish church dedicated to the Assumption of Our Holy
Lady situated in this square following the order of the German occupation authorities was serving as a sorting and storing warehouse for the
robbed Jewish property in the period 1941-1944.
